USHA Awards

USHA is proud to announce a new That's Incredible award this year along with the existing 9 awards for a total of 10 awards to honor up-and-coming athletes and dedicated individuals in the sport of hydrofoiling. This year, the following awards will be given out for these categories:

Male Athlete of the Year
A male winner will be recognized each year for his outstanding athletic achievement, and his work as an ambassador for the sport of hydrofoiling.

Female Athlete of the Year
A female winner will be recognized each year for her outstanding athletic achievement, and her work as an ambassador for the sport of hydrofoiling.

Junior Athlete of the Year
Any junior athlete 17 years of age or younger on January 1 will be recognized each year. The award is for outstanding athletic achievement and work as an ambassador for the sport of hydrofoiling.

Volunteer/Ambassador of the Year
A winner will be recognized each year for their dedication and contributions as a representative, coach, or judge for the sport of hydrofoiling.

Hydrofoil Club of the Year
A club will be recognized each year for their contributions as representatives for the sport of hydrofoiling. The term "club" in this category refers to a group of individuals (with at least 2 members) registered as a USA-WS club with the club type of "Hydrofoil". Below is the list of Hydrofoil clubs (and the club owner) currently on record at USA-WS/USHA:

Most Improved Male Athlete of the Year
A male winner will be recognized this year for his outstanding athletic achievements during the year, and his work as an ambassador for the sport of hydrofoiling.

Most Improved Female Athlete of the Year
A female winner will be recognized this year for her outstanding athletic achievements during the year, and her work as an ambassador for the sport of hydrofoiling.

Rising Star Award
Any junior athlete 17 years of age or younger on January 1 will be recognized for this year. The award is for outstanding athletic achievements during the year in the sport of hydrofoiling.

Best Supporting Member of the Year
An individual (non-skier) will be recognized this year for their dedication and contributions to the sport of hydrofoiling in the areas of boat driving, media or other.

That's Incredible Award
An individual (skier or non-skier) will be recognized this year for an amazing feat during the year, and the dedication to the sport of hydrofoiling.



Guidelines and Rules:
  • Nominees will be judged for their performance from 9/1/2008 to September 2009 only. This is a change from last year in order to make sure all accomplishments can be considered if they occur at the end of the year.
  • All nominations must come from USHA members and all nominees must be USHA members.
  • Completed nomination forms will be accepted on-line by Saturday September 12, 2009.
  • Only fully completed nomination forms will be reviewed. Submit all requested pieces of information on the nomination form.
  • Nominations will not be accepted verbally or by phone.
  • USHA reserves the right to seek nominations between the nomination deadline and the selection date and to decline nominations.
  • USHA board members and members will vote for award winners by Saturday September 19, 2009. This date could change depending on the USA-WS nomination process. Last year voting was required to end by September 15th.
  • The awards are sponsored by USHA and each winner is awarded a plaque or certificate.
